I have a skybase in my SMP world. It is built out of slab floors and has a nether portal on it. 75 percent of the time I go through the portal, I spawn a few blocks under it and fall to my death.

I put an extra platform under it so I don’t fall and as far as I know, if the blocks under the portal are full blocks you don’t fall so you only fall if there are slabs under the portal frame. This is a realm world.
