MCPE-20205

Villagers can pick up any item

Starting with 1.0.4.1 (or 1.0.4.0, I'm not entirely sure), villagers will pick up any item you throw at them. This is probably related to MCPE-19832.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Throw a block, a diamond, or other random item at a villager.

  2. The villager will pick it up. You have now lost that item and cannot get it back, even if you kill the villager, because they don't drop the items in their inventory.

Fixed in 1.0.4.11. Your diamonds are now safe, everybody! (From villagers at least... still got to watch out for creepers. πŸ˜›)

Have you tested it in 1.0.5.0?

I tried it in 1.0.5.0, and they literally picked up almost anything I threw at them 😞

@unknown Did you test it with villagers from 1.0.4.11 or newly-spawned ones in 1.0.5.0? I haven't tested it in 1.0.5.0 yet, but will soon. Re-opening ticket.

I tested with villagers from 1.0.5.0, and I can confirm they do pick up anything thrown/on the ground.

Confirmed to affect 1.0.5.0. The bug does NOT affect 1.0.4.11, though. Will check vanilla behavior pack and see if anything changed in 1.0.5.0. (The 1.0.4.11 behavior pack is identical to the 1.0.4.1 pack.)

I can confirm this bug on alpha 1.0.5.0. I threw blocks, poisoned arrow and rabbit foot at one purple, brown and white coated villagers. All three picked up the item I threw at them.

I can confirm this on 1.0.5.0 also.

While going about my business managing and trading with a remote village, MCPE-15010 raised its massively (MASSIVELY!!! grrrr) annoying and frustratingly unaddressed head. MCPE-15010 threw my clichΓ©d favourate encanted diamond sword out of hotbar slot 1 into a bunch of thieving villagers and it was gone.
Despite my rage, massacring all the village men, er, all the "other" village men and the village younglings followed by a burning/dynamiting of the whole village remeniscent of an Anakin Skywalker tantrum, I did not feel avenged and I fear I may now be in the grasp of the dark side.
😞

Appears to be fixed (again) in 1.0.5.3! πŸ˜ƒ When 1.0.5 is officially released for Windows 10 Edition I'd advise double-checking there just to be safe, though.
