Everytime I exit my world it crashes

Confirmed on Cherry Mobile Flare S3 Power/ Android 5.1 / MCPE 1.1.0.0

Thankfully appears fixed in 1.1.0.1 Only if you restore a pre 1.1.0.0 backup
It still occured when I loaded my last 1.1.0.0 save into 1.1.0.1, when I tried to Save and Quit it still crashed in 1.1.0.1.
I had to restore my last 1.0.6 backup to be able to save it successfully again in 1.1.0.1.

NOTE: this is only after one attempt to save IMMEDIATELY after reloading the 1.0.6 backup.
Please don't close without other users confirming fix.

EDIT: Reloaded the above mentioned successful resave in 1.1.0.1, emptied my inventory into a number of chests, saved again with NO crash, reloaded again and verified that the chest contents were as expected so am confident this is now fixed (subject to reloading a pre 1.1.0.0 backup), good work, thanks guys!

My previous comment was premature!

After a session testing this morning the game crashed when I tried to Save and Quit again, it now crashes every time I reload and Save and Quit.

So sorry, NOT fixed yet in 1.1.0.1 😞

Actions taken during the session were mainly:

• harvesting potatos, carrots, wheat, sugar cane, pumpkin and melons.

• Crafting paper from sugar canes

• Saving the crops and paper to a chest.

The only other thing worthy of note in this instance is that at the end of this session I forgot to work around MCPE-20783, exiting my inventory via [...] and my hotbar had disappeared. The game was in this state with no hotbar when I tried to Save and Quit. I'm not neccessarily suggesting a relationship between the state when quiting and the crash but it's certainly worth mentioning and investigating further, which I will.

Edit, doesn't seem related to MCPE-20783, I was able to successfully Save and Quit from the missing hotbar state at least once.
I spent many hours yesterday trying to identify a common cause for the crashes but it seems very random, sometimes it saves but most often it crashes and items/progress are lost!
The only thing I can add is that the more you do and the more mobs are near by the more likely it is to crash.
Sorry for spamming the comments but was trying to identify a cause, I'll shut up now as I can't add anything more.

I go to save and quit and the whole game crashes while resetting some things like what I put in a chest. Please look into this.

Can confim on 1.1.0.4. Happens to me on both old one and new one. Looks like it doesn't always crash, i managed to save the new map once. Later it started to crash on saving too.

i agree about that even when i buy something to prevent crashes when i exit it will still crash and my progress will not be saved

This issue is happening on 1.1.0.8 too, i go mining and etc save and exit and the game crashed.

I exit and click save and quit and it says Unfortunately Minecraft Pocket Edition has stopped working and then my game doesn't save where I left off that can be frustrating when building. Beta version 1.1.0.8

This has also effected me in the latest update. But instead it freezes when I try to save game. And when I go back in my world my progress has been lost

Happened to me 1.1.0.55 on LG V10.

Frozen during Save and Exit. Some of my progress appears to have saved without my input, but a lot of progress still lost. When I re-launched the game, 8 item frames with different items came off the wall onto the floor. Luckily I saw them.

Same frozen problem. Save and exit freezes game and progress is lost.

Happened on iOS only with Discovery Update, 1.1.0.x. Even if it doesn't crash, it fails to reliably save current state of character and world.

I have the same issue with 1.1.0 build 366676 on iOS. I removed and reinstalled mcpe and the issue went away for 5 or 6 saves. However the issue is back now every time the game is paused or save and exit is chosen. The game seems to hang and no progress is saved.

Same problem on galaxy s6 edge plus. I have had it save successfully 2 or 3 times, but it freezes and loses the progress far more often. I give up until this is fixed. I can't mine that section again all over and lose the progress again...

This happens to me on my Samsung Galaxy S4 mini GT-I9192 Android 4.4.2 when I click to save and quit the game freezes after that I close it and my progress of the world and the unsaved character

I started a new survival world and was started on a very small island. I was able to play just fine for quite a while with no issues saving and exiting. I only had an issue when I began exploring further from my island home. I got less than half of a fully zoomed-out map explored before I started having issues. Probably around 80-90% of what I explored was Ocean. Every time I explore around 40% of the map I pretty much guarantee that I will crash when I try to save. The first time I explored that far the game semi-froze while I was still playing. I was in a boat and I could still look around, but could not move and there were graphics distortions. Just some more info in case it is useful.

Please fix this QUICK, it happens on MCPE: iOS 1.1 and every time I tap "Save and Quit" or just minimize the game, MCPE freezes itself and I lost my hours of work. It ruins the game, if you don't fix this issue soon then the game will......❌

Hi all. I may or may not have a temporary, annoying and easy to forget patch for this. After losing many hours myself with this same 'freeze/crash' upon exit problem, I have found that when I sign in (I'm on an iPhone 7plus running latest update of the game) and choose my game, if I do my thing for a few minutes and then save & exit, after logging back in I've been able to play for extended periods without losing progress. I do still save, exit and reload periodically for good measure, but so far this is working for me.

Confirmed on iPhone 7 (in 1.1.0.0).
If I open a world, then save and quit one minute after, it doesn't crashes. But if I stay longer on my world, then try to quit, the app closes and I lost my progress.

Still happens on MCPE 1.1.1 on iOS. But the good side is, on MCPE 1.1.0 I lost 60% of my progress after the game crashed, and on MCPE 1.1.1 I lost 10% of my progress after the game crashed. Please add auto-save to MCPE to avoid more progress getting lost.

Confirmed still happening on 1.1.2.

My bug MCPE-23078 was closed and linked to this bug. The crash at save is not the bigger issue (though it is a issue). The bigger issue is that the game is not saving progress - this a full stop blocker for continuing to play your game. I have now seen this bug reported all over the place. Please resolve.

Confirmed on OnePlus 3t with Android 7.1.1

Try going into settings and clearing cache from the minecraft app. Do not clear data. Just clear cache. Also close the app.

@unknown: Oh, did that work for you? If so it's a very helpful input.
That also explains why it happens to some people and for others don't. (I can't repro it either.)

I'm gonna confirm this bug for the Samsung Galaxy J3V (2016), I need this bug to be fixed. I love playing with my sister and this bug really ruined it for me. Thanks in advance.

@Skye, there is no clear cache option in MCPE for iOS. So this issue NEEDS TO FIND A SOLUTION!

@Villager#infinity You need to go into your settings and find Minecraft PE in your apps and clear the cache!

@Sebastian Aigner, The "Clear Cache" option is clearly for Android version of MCPE, and I am talking about MCPE for iOS. There is no such option for Minecraft PE for iOS I have searched anywhere in the settings!

Finally, in the 1.1.3 update of MCPE it seems Mojang added auto-save... Prevented the world save lost somehow for a bit.

I'm on iPhone 7 with all of the same freeze & progress lost upon exit problems. Over the weekend, after doing a full backup, I restored my phone to factory settings, and then restored from that backup. For whatever reason, I haven't had the freeze issue since then, and I've been in and out of the game multiple times over past 2 days. Not long, so it might be too soon to know for sure, but for now I'm good. Just passing this along.

Villager, do you happen to know how often the game autosaves?

@Nolan, I don't know. I mean what you build or destroy in game now seems permanent but the game still crashes randomly after 4 hours approximately just like MCPE 0.16.0.
