Blazes seem to lag up the game, possibly with their smoke particles! When there are multiple blazes in the Nether, my game slows down to the point where turning around is a real hassle, which has led to many deaths in the Nether Fortress. When I switched my game mode to Peaceful in the Nether Fortress I've been slain in, the lag has ceased, and I was able to move about with ease to get my stuff back. My phone model is an Android ZTE GRAND X MAX +. An idea to fix this would be to have a particle option to toggle particles on or off, like in the PC.

I've experienced the same issue in a Nether Fortress where two blaze spawners were close by.
To begin with when I started exploring the Nether Fortress it was ok, but I sealed up the spawners to deal with later. A while later areas close to the spawners got very slow.
I was wondering if it was the number of smoke particles appearing around the blazes too.
Turning around for me isn't just a hassle: I play with touch controls, and once it gets down to a few frames a second swiping to turn around either stops working or I end up breaking blocks instead.
Is there a semi/unsupported way of editing config to disable particles in the short term?
Minecraft versions: 1.08 had the issue, which was when I first started exploring the Nether. I upgraded from 1.08 to 1.10 and I think performance is worse.
Hardware: Nexus 7 (2013) - old hardware, but the game runs fine in all other situations.
OS: Android 6.0.1
Customisations: No mods, add-ons or resource packs.
Config: I've tried disabling all the graphical options and turning render distance down to no effect.
I'm having this or a similar issue in 2 separate locations (different Nether portals). Game play is fine in the Overworld and in most of the Nether. When I reach certain locations in the Nether the lag progressively gets worse with each step to the point where I cannot turn around. Like Llewellyn Robinson I too play with touch controls. If I blindly move backwards I the lag gets progressively better until game play returns to normal. If I move forward the lag returns. I cannot confirm whether there is a Blaze spawner nearby but there are Blazes in the area. One of the lag locations is in a Fortress, and with the presence of Blazes I'm guessing the second area has a Fortress nearby. This is very frustrating as I'd like to explore the Nether more, and specifically the fortresses, but the lag has basically taken this aspect of the game away. I too have gone to the lowest graphics settings (render distance 5) and had zero improvement. MCPE 1.1.5
This happens to me in PE and Gear VR edition too. Lots of blazes have spawned while I built a safehouse nearby. Very similar to when I bred way too many villagers. It seems like the game struggles when there are lots of mobs within rendering distance, as when I get far enough away, the lag stops.

I have had the same issue except mine was when there were a lot more mobs. I can make a video on this if need be to show Mojang. If we could turn off the particles that would probably help but I have a feeling it is something deeper than we realize because since they made it to where you can host servers on MCPE the lag is likely caused by downloading from the server.
