"Bordure Indented" pattern is missing in Loom user interface

The “Bordure Indented” banner pattern in the Loom user interface has been absent from Bedrock Edition since the Loom was added in release 1.10.0. This makes it impossible to reproduce some banners from Java Edition, which has the pattern, and also means that when banners are used to craft letters, some letters (e.g. B and D) cannot be made unambiguously readable.

The Bordure Indented pattern is present in the game in Bedrock Edition, as can be proved by altering the list of patterns applied to a banner with an NBT editing tool. For example, I was able to alter the “Bordure” pattern code (bo) to the “Bordure Indented” pattern code (cbo) and observe that the pattern changed in-game to show the indented border.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. In Creative mode, place a Loom and right-click to open its interface. Place any color banner and a contrasting color dye into the slots.

  2. Scan through the banner patterns shown in the interface placing each them at a time into the third slot. Hover over the preview to see the pattern names.

Expected results: One of the patterns shows “Bordure Indented” in the tooltip.

Observed results: “Bordure Indented” does not occur for any of the patterns.

To demonstrate that the Bordure Indented pattern is present in the code, I have attached a screenshot from an .mcworld file containing a world with a placed banner at spawn. I created the banner by applying red dye and the Bordure pattern to a white banner, then closing it and using an NBT editor to change the pattern code in the banner’s data from “bo” to “cbo”. The banner clearly displays the Bordure Indented pattern after the edit. Unfortunately, several attempts to upload the world itself failed.

It appears that my attempt to upload the screenshot also failed, though it showed success at the time I created the report. Are uploads broken? I notice that attachments in older tickets are also showing “progress” circular arrow animations that never seem to go away.

In Bedrock Edition you need to craft the bordure indented banner pattern item using paper and vines. When you have the item in you inventory, the pattern shows in the loom interface.

(I don’t think uploads are broken, but bugs.mojang.com has been sluggish lately and may have timed out.)

Regarding the upload issue, ensure that your web browser’s tracking prevention is not set to Strict. I encountered the same upload behavior you described, and it turned out to be caused by Microsoft Edge’s tracking prevention being set to Strict. Changing it to Balanced or Basic resolved the issue.

That fixed it! Thanks for the tip!
