My friend came across this bug when he crafted his first spear on our realm we both play on. The spear is not straight and has no animation when he's attempting to use it.

Are you using any add-ons or resource packs? If so, could you provide a complete list of them?
Well, somewhat on me: I thought I removed every one of my Addons just to be absolutely sure, but I apparently missed one: An RTX Graphic Pack (Mr. Atlaz’s Completely Normal RTX). Removing it fixes the issue.
I’ll wait for the pack to update, and see if it’s an unusual interaction between the Pack and the Game.

After consideration, the issue is being closed as Won't Fix.
Please note that this is not the same as Working as Intended, as this bug report correctly describes behavior in the game that might not be the intended or desirable behavior, but it will not be fixed right now. Sometimes, this is because the issue reported is minor and/or impossible to change without large architectural changes to the code base.
