Crops that are destroyed by jumping on them ( or having mobs do it ) isn't destroyed - the land stops being farmland but the crop is still displayed, every so often crops will "pop off" creating x crops.
I initially ignored it as it was somewhat usefull, how ever the rate at wich the items are created seems to be exponential, I ended up having to move the world to my computer as I could not type /kill @e[type=items] fast enough to kill the potato storm

I can reproduce the crops not displacing properly, but I can't reproduce them duplicating exponentially. Do you have any more info about that? (Perhaps a world download might be a good idea, if it's a available still)
It takes a while to get started - by the time things got really hairy grass had spread to the "destroyed" crop - still you should notice extra carrots/potatos popping up every so often, and it seems every time they do pop next time more does

I recommend loading the world somewhere you can rapidly type in " /kill @e[type=items] " multiple times - after a few time enough should have cleared that you can see the fountain :

Confirmed for Bedrock + Realms. My group has since returned to Java, but if I encounter this again in single play, I'll keep a copy to upload.
The only solution we had for this problem was to break the plowed land block under the "storm". The lag, of course, only went away after the items were collected into inventory or despawned.

We are unable to reproduce the problem in a new world in the latest version.

The world has firespread off which may or may not be important. if you feel the need to torture your computer I can provide a copy of the world before the potatos were cleared out.
