My friend can not join my world and I can not join theirs. I also have tried to turn on multiplayer on my world but it's not avalible to change that I guess. Me and my friend have tried everyday for several weeks now and we can not make it work. I bought the game for me and her and I would really hate for my money to go to waste

From the screenshot, it appears that you're trying to turn on multiplayer from the pause menu, with the world already open. You can only change the multiplayer setting when the world is unloaded. But multiplayer is already on for this world anyway, so that's not the issue.
Please say whether you're trying to connect to one another via LAN or via Xbox Live. Also the actual error message telling you that you can't connect.

Well I am signed into xbox live. It says so in the corner. And so is she. It just says unable to connect to world and that's all. I used to be able to join worlds that she has made. However recently it hasn't been working.

Go to your Xbox Live Privacy settings and check all the options. Whether or not you change anything, save the options. Your friend should do this too. Then try connecting again. Let us know whether that solves the problem for you. (It does for some people.)
