Central dip: 4 inner corner stairs
Edge dips: 2 regular stairs facing into each other
Corner dips: Slab blocks
The lighting seen across these different types of half-block descents is not consistent, when it obviously should be. Assuming the lighting applied to the slabs is the expected lighting effect.
To reproduce, recreate the structure and make sure Smooth Lighting is on.

They were made using different combinations of partial blocks which I had already detailed in the report.
Could not reproduce in 1.2.11.4 on Windows 10. It your screenshot it looks like it could be related to MCPE-30509, but that bug has been fixed on Windows 10 at least.
I do think this issue might be working as intended.
The amount of shadow (with smooth lighting) gets calculated from the number of full blocks surrounding the slab or stair.
In the example the amount of full blocks surrounding the slab or stair varies.
Where slabs are the darkest and surrounded by 4 full blocks.
And two stairs connecting for each stair are surrounded by 3 full blocks.
And the 4 stairs in a square for each stair are surrounded by 2 full blocks.
Causing the differences in shadow.
