Cannot move objects in or out of inventory following MCPE update

Just to confirm, are you tapping to select the item(s) and then tapping the slot where you want them to go?

Yes, I am indeed trying to move objects exactly that way. Nothing moves. Illumination of slots is very intermittent. I can't put armor on my character either. I can put iron blocks in a furnace and smelt them but I can't retrieve the resulting ore.

Correction: I can't move blocks into furnaces NOW. Iron ore I smelted in worlds before the MCPE update can't be moved from the furnace to inventory.

Yes no amount of tapping is working. It does not recognize at all that it is being tapped in the toolbar nor inventory pop up. I have had this issue since before the last update and hoped this one would fix it. It started with the upgrade before last. My game is completely unplayable. Frustrating to spend so much on in game texture packs etc.

To help us further, could everyone affected by this issue please just confirm:

1. Which device you are using

2. Which UI profile you are using (Settings→Video→UI Profile→Pocket or Classic)

I play Minecraft PE on an Amazon Fire HD tablet using the Fire OS 4.5.5.4. Same device I have used for years without any MCPE problems after updates.

My UI is Pocket.

For me, in both versions 1.2.13 and 1.2.14, on iOS 11.3 and 9.3.5, iPhones and iPads, Classic and Pocket views, the new UI seems to work as designed (tap the item to move, then tap where to move it), but that design is extremely disruptive to what folks have come to accept as normal play, because of the loss of the easy, intuitive, and precise tap-tap method of splitting a stack. While there may be nothing technically wrong, I suspect there needs to be a pretty significant comms effort to educate users about the differences, and teach the now primary (only?) way of splitting a stack.

I appreciate Jerry's observation. It is less intuitive to select an item, see the slot frame illuminate and then tap an empty slot that, I believe, is also supposed to illuminate. Just to be clear: This is how I'm trying to move items. The slots either don't illuminate, or only do so very briefly and occasionally. But in either case, nothing transfers.

I have even uninstalled and reinstalled the game. And all packs. Nothing works. Very frustrating to be unable to play.

My mistake....the ticket is MCPE-32408, not the number above.

Additional details: While nothing moved into furnaces and enchantment tables prior to the update can be moved out, the anvil repair function is working fine. So are the dispensers.

I don't know if this is progress but today, when I try to move items, the slots' frames illuminate without fail, and will stay illuminated for at least 3 minutes. Nothing moves, so it's not correcting the problem, but the illuminated frames are no longer intermittent. I agree, it's very frustrating to be unable to play.

Along with furnaces and enchantment tables, brewing stands are also non-functional.

Will there be any update on the status of fixing this? At this point the game is unplayable and has been for near a month in my case. Classic or pocket UI does not change anything

You mentioned that the slots will stay illuminated - are you then tapping where you want the selection to go to? This is the way items need to be moved currently, just selecting an item will not move them.

It would be very helpful to see a video of what is happening, as we cannot reproduce the issue you are describing.

I have a video of it but I can’t attach it because the file is too large. I’m using the Norse mythology pack and I can select inventory items from any tab to craft them but I can’t select anything from the inventory tab to move it to the hotbar. I can’t even get it to highlight the item whether it’s in the inventory or on the hotbar
