Placing blocks that can be waterlogged by flowing water removes the water temporarily

This does not make any sense as blocks that can be placed in source water do not temporarily delete that.

Affects end rods, levers, rails, comparators and repeaters.

Affected on 1.9 and 1.10 betas

Affects 1.14.1.

This is likely because minecraft:water and minecraft:flowing_water are separate IDs. They will be merged in The Flattening, which will hopefully fix this bug.

I have to ask, why is this a problem? In the video, the block appears to be correctly waterlogged 1 tick after it is placed.

Thank you for your report!
After consideration, the issue is being closed as Won't Fix.

Please note that this is not the same as Working as Intended, as this bug report correctly describes behavior in the game that might not be the intended or desirable behavior, but it will not be fixed right now. Sometimes, this is because the issue reported is minor and/or impossible to change without large architectural changes to the code base.
