[MCPE-33686] Body Guard achievement unobtainable

I was trying to get as many achievements as possible in the newest Beta version on Xbox One. Every other achievement unlocked without much issue but Body Guard refuses to unlock.

"What I expected to happen was..."

I would build an iron golem out of 4 iron blocks and a pumpkin and not long afterwards the Bodyguard achievement would unlock.

"What actually happened was..."

I built 15 plus iron golems with no luck unlocking the achievement or showing progress towards it unlocking. I tried and successfully unlocked other achievements on the same world in between tries to rule out it being a problem with the world having cheats on or anything else that might disable achievements.

"Steps to reproduce..."

Place the 4 iron blocks in a T shape
Place a pumpkin on the top middle of the iron block T to turn it into an iron golem**
Notice how it does in fact create the iron golem but doesn't trigger the achievement to unlock. It also doesn't remove the pumpkin used to create the iron golem from your inventory, instead duplicating the pumpkin indefinitely no matter how many times you use the same pumpkin to make multiple iron golems. This is in fact my last achievement in the game now (besides play for 100 days which is progressing and tracking normally).

I've confirmed now this is not a bug. It is a change in the requirements for the achievement to unlock. You need to place the pumpkin on the ground, use shears to change it to a carved pumpkin, then place it on the golem. The achievement will unlock normally from there. If you don't carve the pumpkin, the bug still exists where the pumpkin remains in your inventory and the golem is created without the achievement unlocking, but a carved pumpkin will unlock the achievement on Win10. Confirm on Xbox One?

I can confirm that placing the pumpkin on the ground then using the shears to change it to a carved pumpkin does work in the Minecraft for Android. I was able to successfully get the achievement this way a few hours ago. However, I have done the same thing dozens of times in Minecraft Windows 10 and Minecraft playing on Xbox One without getting the achievement.

As a side note, I did get the achievement by doing this in Minecraft Xbox One edition on July 31st. So while it is possible to get the achievement, it seems to be glitched to the point where it may not work at all.

I should add that I got the Achievement on Minecraft for Android while playing "Minecraft for Android" in Beta. I neglected to mention this when I initially posted.

I can confirm, that after trying with both "normal" pumpkins and "sheered"/"carved" pumpkins I can not get this achievement to work on Windows 10 as of Oct 18. As you can see other achievements unlock fine.

I made two Iron Golems no luck.

I can confirm I can't unlock this achievement on Bedrock Xbox One Edition 1.7.0.

Tried with pumpkins/carved pumpkins and jack o lanterns
Tried on peaceful/easy/normal/hard
Tried on a LAN game hosted by a windows machine and a local xbox fresh world

The golem is created every time but the achievement never pops. Must have tried 20 golems by now.

As other people have mentioned, the first Aquatic update changed the achievement requirement from needing a regular pumpkin to needing a carved pumpkin, so many of the complaints after the first Aquatic update were resolved once people used a carved pumpkin in making their Iron Golem.

But after the second Aquatic update, this achievement is not working, across multiple platforms, regardless of whether you use a regular pumpkin, carved pumpkin or Jack-o-lantern. I've tried on Win10 version with all three kinds of pumpkins, on multiple difficulties (Peaceful, Easy, Normal, Hard) and tried on numerous worlds where other achievements were unlocking as expected, but Body Guard won't. I've also seen this same comment (Body Guard not unlocking after 2nd Aquatic update) on game forums for the iOS, Kindle Fire, and Xbox One Better Together versions.

Yes this is affecting me and a few friends. Its the last achievement i have left to unlock and i have tried every possible way to do this such as multiple different worlds, both multiplayer and solo worlds as well as the carving the pumpkin. Very very frustrating

Yup, same issue here. I’m playing on iOS and I can’t unlock the Body Guard achievement. I’ve tried playing on various worlds and have built numerous iron golems using the regular, carved, and jack o’lantern versions of the pumpkin. This is my last achievement to unlock. I’m hoping this gets patched soon! It’s very frustrating...

I concur. The achievement does not pop in the current build of Minecraft on Xbox One - and I did everything correctly. All other achievements do pop - it's just this one that's broken.

This has been fixed in the 1.8 Beta version, and we will have to wait until the full release of 1.8 to see the issue fully resolved. We will leave this ticket open as a point of reference until then though.
