I have a farm in my game and a bunch of my animals are disappearing: cows, chickens, sheep, donkeys, dogs, pigs and horses. Even horses with nametags vanish. All of the livestock animals I have are kept in enclosures, gated with a roof on top. No way for the animals to escape. Sometimes it happens when my game crashes, sometimes it just happens when I save & quit, sometimes it happens when I leave on journeys for a while and come back. I play on peaceful mode so there are no monsters to attack or hurt the animals and wild wolves can't get into the enclosure and my dogs are in their own separate area. Please tell me how do I stop this from happening? I have search the other issues but I didn't find a solution.

Is this a multiplayer game?

no it’s private, just me.

Since posting this issue I added an extra fence around the entire enclosure to keep them secure and still more of my name tagged horses have disappeared. There is no way they escape from it. My whole farm is pointless if the animals are gone.
Please don’t mark this resolved until the bug is actually fixed. I’m tired of losing my animals.

Please note that there are different resolutions, all of which show up as resolved. I resolved your ticket as Awaiting response, which means we are awaiting a response from the ticket author (in which the bot will automatically reopen the ticket) or a different user.
The reason I asked about Multiplayer was that there is an issue with entities disappearing (I don't think they are despawning, but getting lost when saving a chunk)
This maybe a different issue than the Multiplayer one.
Please note that when a crash happens, it is unfortunately common to lose entities and is considered a bug that won't be fixed.
Could you give us a few details about the other times entities disappear such as the journeys and save / quits?
About how far away are the journeys?
Did you save and quit after traveling some distance and come back to fins your horses gone or was it just one session without saves?
When saving, were the horses that were lost, near or far away from where you saved?

So no matter how often we save, if the game crashes we can lose animals?
As for your questions... The the furthest I explored was to next biomes from where I am (Sunflower fields seed) there is a frozen biome, and a big mushroom biome near me. Several 2/4 maps away. Also I went to the nether but I don’t go far from the portal. I do save somewhat often. I saved a few times between the time the horses were tagged and the horses went missing.
Recently I was just farming for materials around my house, when I came back I saw a horse was gone. I didn’t save before I went out because I wasn’t going far, I could still see parts of my house and farm in the distance. I didn’t crash though.
Sorry I can’t be more exact on the distances.

For what it is worth, this issue hit me on a new multiplayer world created in 1.4 (Xbox One). I had 3 sheep and maybe 15 chickens in two separate fenced enclosures about 5x5 each. Oak fence on dirt. I went down into my branch mine (within 4 chunks of the base) for a couple of in-game days and when I came back to the surface all of the sheep were gone and about half of the chickens. Not in a biome where wolves appear (and besides...fences) and there was no damage to the enclosures.
I had fed two of the sheep (producing the 3rd) and sheared all three of them. Not sure if that counts as "interacting" for the purposes of "mobs you interact with should not despawn." I fed who knows how many of the original set of chickens, and maybe hurt a few of them by throwing eggs into the enclosure. I'm pretty certain harming a mob is supposed to prevent them from despawning - so maybe the ones I beaned with eggs are the ones that survived the purge?
Since this was all in a single play session, no crash was involved. I can provide seed and coordinates if needed.

Ok I voted but it seems like that issue has been open for a very long time and not much has been done about it. :/
Please consider making it more of a priority.
