Shift Clicking Separates Stack

Shift clicking a stack will send the 64 stack to the top of the inventory instead of a chest or furnace, etc. This leaves the stack separated and you having to inconveniently reach for the rest of the stack to continue its proper placement. (Apologies if this is duped!)

Edit: If there is an incomplete stack at the top of the inventory and shift click a full stack (like in the hotbar) to put it in the chest/furnace, the stack separates and joins other incomplete stacks at the top of your inventory instead of going into the chest/furnace.

I could not reproduce this problem in Windows 10 version 1.4.2.

Please add more information to help us reproduce the problem, including where each involved stack is located, where you shift-clicked, and what was in each stack before and after. You may want to review the Issue Guidelines before doing so. This ticket will automatically reopen when you reply.

Added a clip of what happens and a better description.

I see. So the issue is that shift-clicking a slot in your hotbar distributes the items in the following order when a chest is open:

  1. To any partial stacks of the item in the chest.

  2. To any partial stacks of the item in your inventory.

  3. To an empty slot in the chest.
If this does not match your understanding of the problem, please comment so that I can correct it.

I believe this may be intentional, to avoid allocating new slots unnecessarily. However, I don't know that the intended behavior has ever been documented for Bedrock, so I will confirm this ticket until we have a developer's response.

I thought it was a bug because (as normal) I was expecting the stack to go right into my furnace but it went right into the partial stack that i had elsewhere in my inventory instead of the furnace. In the end only 3 of the 64 items went into the furnace lol. So yeah I guess the order of what it does should be different. Yes. 😃

Whoops! Turns out this is a duplicate of MCPE-19952. You may want to vote for and watch that issue.

Thanks for the report, this has been resolved as a duplicate of MCPE-19952.
