This was recently removed. I believe it was remvoved in 1.4 or 1.3. I am aware this is not exactly a bug but this has to do with feature parity which belongs here according to Minecraft Uservoice .

I am quite sure that it was added. I believe it was removed to be balanced with phone/tablet users. It's definitely possible in Java Edition.
Inventory management is easier when using touchscreen than it is with a mouse. Removing it for balancing reasons makes no sense imo
Thank you for your report!

Going forward we're going to be tracking parity issues and feature requests on the Minecraft Feedback Site, and we'll only be tracking bugs here at bugs.mojang.com.
We're already working on achieving parity across versions where possible, and we're very keen to hear your requests or suggestions, so we'd encourage you to make a post at https://feedback.minecraft.net, or upvote an existing topic there.
If you're not sure whether your issue is a parity request or a bug, hopefully this article will help explain further: Parity Request Guide

Since the closure of the uservoice suggestions page, Mojang no longer accepts parity requests on this bug tracker. I urge those who watch this to follow the post on Minecraft Feedback:
Note that the title was really difficult to fit in 75 characters and that there are no tags whatsoever for the edition of Minecraft, platform, etc. It's your regular old Feedback Hub-like black hole where popularity matters. How fitting that it was launched after Microsoft acquired Mojang. We've seen support for ctrl+backspace and other regular commands added recently so though, so I have a slither of hope for some of the issues I've opened in the past.

I don't think that feature has been added. I believe that is currently only possible in java edition.
