Iron Golems don’t spawn when there are 14 villagers and 24 doors in a farm. I’m fact, they just don’t spawn at all in large villages.

Did you build that farm the first time or it stops working after the latest update?

This one was built before the update and stopped working. But I did build one today in the new update and it also doesn’t work. The village in my new world, which as also in the new update, failed to create iron golems as well, and it was large enough.

Could you please provide the seed and coordinate of a large village?

Seed is 77195690
Coordinates are -1677, 70, -1806
I did add a few doors to one of the houses in the village because I made it my house.

I added a lot more doors to the houses before building the iron farm, but here is a picture of the farm itself in the survival world. I added it to the bug report.

For what it is worth I created a world with that seed, went to the coordinates, and added like 20 doors to the buildings around the well. Within a couple of minutes I had an iron golem roaming the village. This was in Creative, Normal, Always Day. Windows 10 1.5.3.

Well that is strange. Could it be something to do with chunks?

I don't think chunks matter. I think villagers can only "see" doors that are within 16 blocks though? Maybe split up your villager pod so 1/2 is on each side? My survival farm is semi-natural, with the villagers allowed to roam around to the doors, and it seems to work (after Eyeth helped me fix it).

If you wouldnt mind MD, could you post a picture of your farm or the link to a tutorial? I’d like to give that one a try.

HOWEVER, you must drop the spawn floor (the water pool and the surrounding fence) by one block. That was my problem; flowing water was counting as a "roof" block for several doors. Also it might be worthwhile to expand the pool to 18x18 to avoid occasional golem spawns outside the zone. Although the villagers can roam around, I do keep them segmented using fencing so that there are always a couple of villagers within 16 blocks of each door. I get 30-40 iron/hr with the one spawn platform. This was built in survival, in the area of an existing village (since razed to the ground).

How close/far away should I be for them to spawn? Or does it not matter.

You can stand right in the pool if you want, to welcome them. You can't be farther than your simulation distance (in settings), as far as I know. I have a trading hall/auto-farm setup about 100 blocks from the edge of the village buildings and I can be over there while iron golems spawn at the village. My simulation distance is 10 chunks (160 blocks).

MD is right. You don't have at least villager detecting the remaining doors that are farther than 16 blocks away. For example: first picture you built a farm in creative, you only have one pod of villagers sit in the corner next to a group of doors ( group A). Those doors are detected which fall within 16 blocks. There are a group of doors behind the building ( group B). Some doors in group B may not be deteted by villager.
Don't change anything, first try place a villager in a newly built pod at the opposite of first pod. It should detects the rest and golem should begin spawning. If you build a farm next to the village that have doors, you might be likely to run a problem because the game is trying to find a village center (16x16x6 where golem spawns in) between a farm and the village. You should move the farm far away from village. Alternatively, replace doors around village with gate, iron door, trap door, or empty. The farm will have the village center placed inside it.

All doors in the village are removed. There is another pod at the opposite side with one villager in it. Been sitting here 10 minutes and nothing. I did copy and paste it using a command to a different area between both the villages and it workd a very little bit so I guess I’ll try moving it. Here’s my question though, will ig still spawn if I’m at my house and the farm is like 50 blocks away?

Still doesn’t work. I moved it over 100 blocks away from the villages, put pods on both and still nothing. I keep getting tropical fish, but no golems. I guess they don’t spawn over tropical oceans? Idk, they just don’t like to spawn I suppose.

Just a fact, the ig farm I built in 1.5.2 works fine, but none of the ig farms built in 1.5.3 work for me. Even the one MD recommended doesn’t seem to be working. It’s just weird.

Have you check the mob spawning toggle in setting?

Yeah, mob spawning is on. Maybe it was just the world, idk. I destroyed that farm 3 times and rebuilt it in different locations with no luck. The farm does work in my creative world though, I built it in 1.5.2, not that that probably matters though.

The building is most likely not optimized. From the look of the picture. It seems that doors and villager pod are placed inside the spawning area - that lose some valid spawn area. It might decrease spawn rate. You need to modify the building by moving doors and pod out of the spawn area. Optional, try out some working designs from wiki or youtube. Let us know if either of them work.

Oh yes, you need to stand next to it for 30 minutes to an hour to make a conclusion. 10 minutes isn't enough. You may wander around as long as you are within simulation distance.

I spent over an hour above the ig farm that MD recommend with all the necessities that are required for an ig farm. After an hour, nothing has spawned and there is no reason other than this game hates me. Is there a command to spawn an iron golem spawner like the ones in servers? In conclusion, there is still no answer to why these igs aren’t spawning. Btw, there are no doors around other than the spawner, there are torches on the inside, and I dropped the water down a level as I was advised to do.

Have you tried replacing all of the doors with normal oak doors?

Yeah. Just Incase that did anything, but it still produced 0 iron in an hours time. I tested it on both variations of iron farms and they still didn’t produce.

Hmm...take the water out and see what happens. If you dropped the pit floor down a level it shouldn't matter. As long as the pit floor is at least 1 block lower than the blocks the doors are resting on, it should work.
If you copy the world to creative and just spam a bunch of houses, can you get a golem to spawn (nevermind the pit or capturing the golem in any way)? How about if you start a new world with the same seed and then throw a village together in creative mode?
I had serious issues with my farm until Eyeth pointed out my mistake with water, and since then I've converted it into a 2-tier spawn platform and it's working normally (you have to flip the orientation of the houses 180, so the spawn platform is on the same side as the roofs, doors facing away from the spawn area). This world was created in 1.4.3 I think; one of the pre-Aquatic versions, but within the last two months or so.

Ok, here is what happened. I loaded the seed again and built the same farm twice far apart from each other. I decided to try the door theory again so one had acacia doors and the other had oak. The oak one produced a couple but not enough as it should within an hour and the acacia one produced none. So maybe there’s a bug with iron golems not spawning at the different door variants. There could also be a bug where iron golems don’t spawn as frequently, just sayin.

You have a Stronghold right under the island of 2 acacia villages. I am not sure if those doors in stronghold counted or cancelled because it buried underground with sides having the same roof space. Removing doors underground may make a difference. I never have build village/IGF over or near stronghold before.

I suppose that could do it. I’ll try removing the doors down there, but why do oak doors work in an ig farm but not other types? Still trying to figure that one out.

Oak, acacia, spruce doors work fine on my end. If I may, I suggest you try simple tower IGF since it's less complex. It may help you pinpoint your problem quickly.
Do this first; remove doors underground in creative and see what happen

I built IGF on island between the villages. First 2 golems spawned within few minutes. I think the doors in stronghold has been cancelled as a house. It shouldn't be interfering IGF at all. I will update after sone test sessions.

I built one between the villages too, but mine was out a bit farther in the water and nothing spawned. Again, I used acacia doors which haven’t worked for me in the past, but maybe there was some stronghold there or close enough to it. Eyeth, could you please post some pictures or even a turorial of a tower IGF like you recommend for me? I’d like to get an idea and test it out.

IG running good so far with acacia doors built in on island. Villagers were running to IG from abandoned village (removed doors), where village center has been centered into IG.
Try this almost similar to the one I built. You only need 10 villagers to test out one building.

UPDATE: I have attached 2 photos of IG w/ acacia doors built in.

Any doors underneath could well interfere with the village detection, due to MCPE-20537.
Have you managed to resolve the issue mentioned here now, or could the issue be covered by MCPE-33751 or one of it's related tickets?

It could resolve the issue in the survival world aspect of it due to the underground strong hold. I haven’t explored it yet so I’m not aware of where all the doors are. However, I built the ig farm recommend by MD in my creative super flat and nothing spawned. Then, I switched the doors to oak and about half an hour later, they started spawning finally. All I did was change the doors. Why would that farm only work with oak doors?

I tested it last night. Stronghold has no effect on IGF.

I added the photo. There may be a few but that’s only because it failed to upload and then it uploaded anyway. Works a little bit with oak doors but not with spruce doors.

So https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-33751 is a bug that detects doors too far down vertically. Is there any chance in the world that fixing that bug could help with the igf issues? When I dug straight down, I ran into a ton of doors that shouldn’t be counted as a village but if there is a bug, then I could see how they may be an issue.

Unfortunately that design does work . I have that very same build the one made of prismarine in your picture in a survival world and have about an entire chest full of iron from it .
I play both the Nintendo Switch version 1.5.3 and the Windows 10 1.5.3 which are both the bedrock engine.
Now for some reason if built in creative it wont work.

Ok, so it works great on survival and ok if built in creative but it doesn’t work with spruce doors. That’s what I’m getting from all this research. Now Daon, how close is your house to this farm?

Have you get more results from farther observation lately? Creative and survival. Maybe you forgot that you changed something on 1.5.2 ( anything not just IG and village) and it stopped working before the game updated to 1.5.3.
Just trying to help pinpointing the problem

I appreciate your help, and the survival world was made in 1.5.3. I still have to test it in the survival world but it fixed itself in the creative world when I replaced the spruce doors with oak.

Can confirm for 1.6.0.30. Over 80 villagers (all spawned naturally without my interference for some reason) and no iron golem to be seen)

Yes, I did swich doors back and nothing. And thank you Thomaz for the image, it’s great to know that 1.6.0.30 also has this issue.

Quick Question: Will an ig farm work if it’s right above a village? Keep in mind the farm is over 100 blocks away vertically. Will that work or does it also have to be horizontally?

idk, this farm actually works but the others don’t. But they should though. Plus it seems like Thomaz picture also shows this strange bug/glitch, whatever you want to call it. I’m almost finished with my ig farm in my survival world and will most likely complete it tomorrow. There is no reason it shouldn’t work as it is well far enough away from any doors. I’ll update you on that tomorrow when I finish and test it.

After some testing, I can happily report that this farm design does work as long as it has oak doors and it is built >120 blocks above ground level. I believe that there may be a bug with doors as only oak doors seem to work, but overall I can report that after hours and hours of wasted time, I have created an igf that does work properly in 1.5.3.
