Yesterday my mate and I were playing the version 1.5.3 of Minecraft 'Better Together' and then he had to go off, so he saved and quit, went to the Xbox home and turned his console off. Today he went on the game only to find out that the world was gone/deleted, it's not in his storage so it's like the world was never created. Countless hours spent in that world is just gone. Is there anyway to recover this world?

I also had this same problem... twice. It was extremely angering. The first time it happened, I wasn't sure whether or not I deleted it or if it was lost. Later on, I played on another world and the same thing happened. I spent many hours on both worlds, and I am very disappointed. I don't see this being discussed a lot, so I'm really glad you reported this; now I know I'm not the only one. I hope this gets resolved soon, because it makes me not want to play Minecraft.
It looks like I'm having the same problem. Coincidentally, it also seems we both lost world progress on the same day; 16th August. I also lost another world with today's update. I'm not sure what the hell is going on but it seems to be happening after updates.

Was the console turned off before the game had finished saving or syncing the save data, perhaps?
