Drowned not attacking me

Once I made a survival world in Bedrock Edition and found a village. I had the add-on "Village Guards" installed, which replaces wither skeletons with village guards, but I don't think it is responsible for this bug since it doesn't affect Drowned. The village was next to a swamp with a witch hut in it, and as I was approaching the witch hut, I saw a Drowned on an island, so I went over to kill it. It was daytime and the Drowned was under a tree, but when I approached it, it stayed where it was. I walked right up to it and it didn't attack until I was right in its face. But when I moved backwards again, it didn't follow me. So I punched it to push it into the water and it immediately regained its AI. I have heard that Drowned become passive during day if the way to water is blocked, but the way to water was definitely not blocked on that island. Is there a bug with the Drowned AI, or is it the Add-on's fault?

Probably WAI. Drowned will stay under a shade if it is daytime when they're on land and resume attack when it turns night.

Maybe. But normal zombies aren't very smart and attack even if there are trees nearby and they will burn to death if they don't go to them. So, are Drowned supposed to be smarter? And if I was under the cover of the tree as well, surely it should attack me because there is no risk of burning.

Technically the path to water was blocked by the sky light. Drowned will avoid exposure to sunlight so they may consider sunlight as an obstacle to water and not pathfind towards water, they will also become passive. Although I would consider it as neutral rather than passive as they attack whoever attacks them.

Yeah, I guess so. So, I guess you can resolve this bug unless you can find an error in the code.

Please see if this happens without the add-on. Add-ons can have outdated files for new mobs which may mean it doesn't have the correct properties.

Unfortunately, none of the uploading websites can upload my video properly for some reason, but I pretty much got the same results as you so I think I don't need to upload the video anymore. I've tried Youtube, Vimeo and several others but none of them will work. I think the video might be too long or too big, or it could just be a bug with the program I used to record it.

I think we have enough information now though. In my test, the Drowned attacked me when I was right in front of it or under the tree's shade, but it didn't walk to the water I created or attack me when I was in the sunlight. Meanwhile, the husk, and even the zombie, which burns in sunlight, walked out of the tree's shade and attacked me even though it was day. So I agree, it is either the Drowned's AI or Drowneds turning neutral at day on purpose.

As of the current release (1.10.0), the behavior reported appears to be explainable. Drowned will only start targeting a player who is in contact with water, and they will not follow a path that takes them out of both shade and water, though they will freely switch between shade and water. If spawned on land next to water, they do not seek the water even if there is a shaded path between them. However, once in water they do not leave it unless they have a target and a path through shade.

since 1.10.1 the drowned no longer try and follow me or attack me at all.  I even walk through them on the seabed push them hit them and nothing. they release xp when I kill them but no longer any drops, not even rotten flesh!

Fixed in release 1.11 by my testing.

Also the changelog states, "Drowned converted from zombies will now attack players"
