Problem: It rains on my world, but it never thunderstorms! We have been trying to use the Channeling enchantment to get mob skulls! There is rain normally, but no lightning!
World Statistics: Our world originated on Xbox One Edition and was migrated when Bedrock was first released. Since then and now, the weather was working normally. The world is Survival only existing on a Realm.
Suggestion: I'm wondering if the old "preserved chunks" from the original world are missing thunderstorms? I haven't checked if "new chunks" from newly generated territory have lightening or not... I don't know if there is any difference between the old chunks and the new chunks regarding the weather issue. BUT, the weather did work with lightening and thunderstorms originally, but we noticed there is no more lightening as of recent.
Thank you!

Well, we made an objective to get mob skulls by making charged creepers... But, there is no lightening, so we can't make charged creepers.
Similar problem here:
Had a huge world created in solo play. Doing the Free 30 day trial for Realms so I imported my world.
40-50 hours in and not a single thunderstorm on the Realm copy - weather worked fine in solo. Will likely just cancel the Realm subscription until it works properly.
(xbox one)
This is still a problem (playing on Beta 1.11.0.7) and it’s getting annoying. Note that this only happens during multiplayer. Whenever friends are in my world, we never see a thunder storm, yet whenever I’m alone, they appear around the same rate as before. Please fix, because channeling is useless on SMP
Also in the beta, when I play solo, I get no storms. My channeling trident is itching to charge creepers.
I had a world initially created on realms, but later copied the world to a dedicated server hosting. On realms, I can confirm that thunderstorms were working, as I still have a skeleton horse from before the world transfer. After the transfer; however, I have not gotten a single thunderstorm which has naturally occurred in the game. I've been afk for hundreds of hours, waiting for a thunderstorm (I have a witch farm which would transform my villagers into witches, as soon as a thunderstorm would occur with a channeling trident piston trick). As of posting this, thunderstorms cannot happen naturally in this world and I am unaware as to how I can fix this, as it's a very important game mechanic and I would at least like a way to fix my world, which I am not entirely sure if it is possible to do without a bug fix directly from Mojang.
Attempted (unsuccessful) methods to possibly fix the bug (I will update this as I try more things):
-Restarting the server.
-Using commands to summon a thunderstorm, in hopes of reminding the server that they are supposed to occur.
-Copying the world on singleplayer and trying it on that copy.
Edit 1: If it might help, I could attach the world file for further research purposes of the bug, if requested.
Edit 2: MY WORLD HAD A NATURAL THUNDERSTORM! The last thing I attempted was that I went into my dedicated server's server.properties and went to where it gets you to input the seed. This value was blank, so I entered the same seed as my current world. After doing that, an hour later of player, voila! I really hope this solves it for anyone else.
I have noted the same thing on my realm (free trial). There a group of us trying to get charged creepers but it never thunderstorm. I have been playing for hours... it rained a few times but no thunderstorm.
Same problem: I have played in my single-player world (windows 10) for around a year and always had thunderstorms. Started collecting skulls recently using my channeling trident, and suddenly noticed that I wasn't getting thunderstorms anymore, not one in 20+ hours of gameplay, with plenty of rain events. During a recent rain event, I noticed a zombie walking around during the day without burning, so I presume I got a "thunderstorm" but no lightening whatsoever?
It is quite peculiar that during all these hours of gameplay without lightening, I was also not visited by the wandering trader anymore, which can't be a coincidence. He occurred very commonly at my base before.
I GOT THUNDERSTORMS AGAIN!! Hurrah, my world is saved. I am not sure what "saved" it, it might have been something in the 1.13 update (although I had around 4 or 5 rain events since the update without lightening). However, what I think fixed it was a "peaceful cycle", just quickly changing from "normal" to "peaceful" and back. I always suspected that my collecting surface mobs in a blast chamber for skull collection caused the "crash" (I had collected around 30 in one chunk). Possibly there is some - indirect - connection between mob cap and thunderstorms as they also allow hostile mobs to spawn by day. However, just killing off the mobs didn't help, so if it was the peaceful cycle, it must have been something more basic. Whatever... If you also encounter that problem, for which it seems there are several sources, just try a "peaceful cycle". Good luck. Now, back to skull collecting and skeleton horses. Yayyy...
I've had it storm on my world before, but it definitely seems to be much rarer than in the past.
