[Fixed] Trying to pickblock a Nether Portal causes the game to crash

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Build a Nether Portal (or use /setblock)

  2. Try to use pickblock on it

Expected results: Pickblock doesn't work and you continue playing normally

What actually happens: Your game crashes and about one minute of progress is loss

Does this affect similar blocks such as the end portal/gateway?

This issue should be resolved as of Beta 1.11.0.3. If you continue to experience this problem please comment below and we will reopen the ticket.

Yep, but I was in 1.9 when trying to pick block an end gateway block. So...

@Antony Missine 1.9 is an old version and the issue already got fixed in the beta

I am in  1.11.0.4 (beta), and the main issue seems to be fixed. But a small issue with the fix is that instead of attempting to give the user the portal block, it's now attempting to give the user air: aka it will attempt to replace air with air, or in the worst case scenario, a block you were using in your hotbar with air. Can this be addressed in the same ticket, or should this be opened somewhere else?

@unknown: I think we can handle it in this ticket. I will update the description to reflect the bug in the attempted fix.

Deleted: See comment below. The fix in 1.11.0.3 was probably correct, but exposed the bug that was previously hidden. Thank you, tryashtar!

Dang, that issue is old. I voted for both issues just in case. Which one should I follow and add to if I find more issues with this subtopic?

If it relates to pickblocking a portal block, this one. If it relates to pickblocking air, the other one. If it's something else, try to search for a matching report and create a new report if you can't find one.
