die upon spawn or spawn already dead

hi guys.  ive encountered a similar issue twice that is very frustrating.  first instance i logged in to a new session, when i spawned into my realm i was 10 feet in the air so i died by falling from a tall height almost as soon as i logged in.  second time occurred just now only i spawned into to the realm already at the "you died" screen.  my only choice was to respawn or quit.

The main reason this is so frustrating is that ive been trying to get to high levels so i can enchant up to level 4.  this current time i was up to level 24 but spawned dead =(

I wish I could give you more info but there was no error report or anything like that.  now that this same thing has happened twice within about 2 weeks, im afraid to put more time into the game because i feel like this will inevitably happen again.  is there anyway my level could be restored to 24 where it was previously?  it took a long time to get there and i feel so deflated losing all those levels in an instant due to no fault of my own.

i see this is a major issue and there are a ton of other tickets posted about the same subject.  is there a fix in progress?  are you guys aware of what causes this?

thanks, ttyl

We cannot restore your levels, nor can you without enabling cheats (which I assume you don't want to do).

There is a very widespread bug (MCPE-38374) that matches this description, which is probably what you're referring to ("ton of other tickets"). It was supposed to have been fixed in 1.9.0 and it seems to have worked for most people, but we are on the lookout for recurrences since it's possible that not all the triggering conditions have been identified yet, and your case might be one that was missed. If you're able to attach a copy of your world, that might be very helpful.

As a workaround, I would suggest, since you're using Windows 10, that you export a copy of your world either before or after every play session. That way, when this happens you can delete the world and import the copy to try again. If you're successful when retrying, you at least have a workaround. If the copy always fails, then we have a reproducible bug which means a copy of the world would definitely be helpful to us.

Thank you for your report!
We're actually already tracking this issue at MCPE-38374, so we will resolve and link this ticket as a duplicate.

If you would like to add a vote and any extra information to the main ticket it would be appreciated.

Please confirm that you are using the latest version (currently 1.9.0) - and whether this is happening on a Realm or in single-player.)
