After upgrade to 1.9 the loading screen is present much longer, and at the end it is over the already running game - player can die in such scenario

After the upgrade to 1.9 the world loading time is significantly higher (performance issue). What’s strange is that the progress bar is done very quickly and then the loading screen enters a very long phase without a progress bar, but just having the tips still displayed. Player just need to wait long time until the the world will be finally available.

The most problematic is the fact that during this last, long, loading phase the game is actually running under the hood (from some particular moment), if you spawn in area with monsters the player will be attacked while the loading screen is still on, so when you finally see the world you are in a fight with low health. What is worse you can actually die during this case, it happened to me, when the game world finally appeared I was in the middle of receiving the last, deadly hit from monster and I get immediately the "You died" screen. It is very annoying.

I have also experienced this. Clearing the Nintendo Switch saved game data (2GB worth!) made the loading about half as long, for a week or so. Now it is beginning to take a long time again — and yes, you die if mobs get you. Other players see you show up and just stand there for about 30 seconds before you can see or move yourself.
