My main village had hundreds of different villagers, particularly librarians with useful enchantments. They have all been replaced with leatherworkers. Hundreds of leatherworkers. Not useful. Same thing happened in any other village that was created from rescuing zombie villagers. All of those villages have been reduced to one single type of villager. Again hundreds of one type. Maybe that was the first villager rescued that founded the village? The villages that were built up from existing villages have a variety of villagers.

Yup, figured it out. Had all the villagers fixed in place with cauldrons (when you put a cauldron on the ground they hop in and stop moving around, that way I could find whatever one I was looking for). Anyway the cauldron is the workstation for the leatherworker hence a village of hundreds of leatherworkers. Fixing it now with other workstations.

it could be that the villagers needed a workstation but there was none so they stayed the standart. In the newest update villagers without a workstation are clerics.
