Blocks break faster when standing 5 blocks away than when standing right in front of them

Summary
When standing 5 blocks away from a block, the block breaks faster than it does when standing right in front of it. This seems to affect every block in the game and it only happens if the tool has a certain mining speed. For example, a regular diamond pickaxe won't mine stone faster when standing 5 blocks away while a diamond pickaxe that is enchanted with Efficiency II or higher will.Β

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Equip a diamond pickaxe that is enchanted with at least Efficiency II or higher or if mining grass/dirt/sand, an unenchanted iron shovel.

  2. Stand back 5 blocks and start breaking the blocks in front of you and then stand closer and start breaking the blocks.

Observed Results:
The mining speed is faster when breaking blocks 5 blocks away.

Expected Results:
The mining speed is exactly the same as it is when breaking blocks right in front of you.

This bug has been reported to our internal bug tracker for further testing and a fix. It is scheduled to be fixed in one of the future updates (no specific date can be provided).

this is not a Bug, It's a blessing!!! if you run while breaking the block 5 blocks away you can continue breaking normal blocks at high speed, even works with 20 percent speed potion. when you hit a harder block, it'll skip but just back up and start again, you can mine large lines of block faster and more efficiently. your pickaxe lasts longer because more blocks can be broken in the "damage time" for the tool. the tool canΒ only take a damage hit at a timed interval. Don't Fix This πŸ˜ƒ

i see it like reed king

Yeah please keep this.

its helpful because if you want to get blocks quick stand away from netherrack and use a stone pickaxe

It turns out the Continuous Block Breaking System works in survival mode, causing every effect shown here. Whether this is what the system is called or not, it's triggered whenever the player holds the break button while not looking at a block with a selection box (air, water, bubble column, light block, lava, and more if any), then aiming at a selection box.

To make it intuitive for players, this should either be disabled completely for survival players, or enabled without needing to check if the player is holding the break button while not looking at a selection box.

I think the Continuous Block Breaking System should be enabled in survival mode because it allows for some very interesting mining techniques and is useful for when you want to break a weak floating block that you would otherwise need to stack up to, such as the top of a tree. Also please make sure this bug fix does not slow down creative mining speed, as I and many others find it very useful to be able to mine 2-tall tunnels at sprint-flight speed with the correct angle.
