Nether portals sometimes don't teleport the player

Portals in the Nether won't let the player return. The screen and sound acts as if it is working but nothing happens, even after relogging and relighting the portal.

A variation of this issue is present in 1.17.40.21(Android version)

To reproduce:

  • Enter a nether portal with  a parrot tracking you(making sure it is NOT on your shoulder)

  • The parrot will accompany you into the nether.

  • Return to the overworld (again, with parrot off shoulder)

Observed:

  • Further attempts to use the portal will fail, even if the parrot is killed.

  • This persists until you save and restart

Expected:

  • No impediments to using the portal should be present, especially if the parrot is off your shoulder.

I can confirm the behavior that @Baron Samedi reported.  I'm using Windows 10 v1.17.34

If the parrot is on your shoulder is the key.  I had to get the parrot off my shoulder (and killed it to keep it from coming back).
