When a Loyalty trident is thrown at an entity, the trident will fall to the ground and then returns back to the player instead of instantly returning to the player after hitting an entity.

Hopefully this gets fixed in 1.15, because this update already has many parity changes in the beta.Â
In some situations this can cause the trident to take much longer to return as you can see on https://bugs.mojang.com/secure/attachment/266626/save.mp4.

@unknown can you please reopen this? What is the reason that this shouldn’t be fixed? This often causes the trident to take way longer to return.
This is also unfair for xbox one players. On legacy console Edition, the loyalty trident does not bounce off the mob and xbox one doesn't have the aquatic update on legacy console Edition, meaning for xbox one players it is impossible to have loyalty tridents immediately start to return when hitting a mob, while this is not the case people who play on other consoles. I hope it gets reopened.
In extremely rare instances on Realms, your trident with Loyalty can outright despawn this way as well if thrown over a fence, fence gate, or over Sweet Berry Bushes and it hits an entity. It will deal the damage it normally would but despawns after hitting an entity, never to be found or to return to your inventory. Last verified by me on Bedrock 1.14.2.
