[MCPE-64487] Custom items and blocks do not show up in the creative inventory or the recipe book

custom items and blocks (blocks are broken in 1.17) that are from .mcaddons do not show up in the creative inventory or in the recipe book like custom blocks from older versions

Edit:

Both items, and blocks now show up in the creative inventory. Make sure to include the minecraft:creative_category component.

Steps to Reproduce:

Download the example addon below
install it how you would install all other addons (click on it for windows 10)
create a new world
make sure experimental gameplay is turned on. (holiday creator features)
activate the resourcepack and behavior pack
finish creating your world

Observed Results:

Custom items/blocks can be received by '/give @s custom:sample_item' and/or '/give @s custom:sample_block'
The recipe is not shown in the recipe book like vanilla items/blocks (both players, and crafting table)
Items are not shown in the creative inventory.
Blocks do not show up in the creative inventory.

Expected Results:

Items and blocks can be received in creative inventory
Item and block recipes will be shown in the recipe book (both players, and crafting table)

Hi Lego,

Do you have experimental features enabled. I believe (and I don't use them myself so I'm not positive) custom blocks still require the experimental features switch.

Yes, you have to have experimental gameplay on for any/most addon features, but just items don't show up in the creative inventory/ creative tab entity spawn eggs, and blocks do show up.

I seem to be having this issue in the latest beta all three experimental options are on (though the first one is listed as "createWorldScreen.experimentslitems" and didn't turn on in world's that had experimental features enabled previously, like the other two did, which could be related)

I misread the report in my case I can't get the items with commands either also I'm not getting any content log errors so it's not even registering the items

The edit button is missing so I'm posting this as a separate comment. I added a custom recipe with the item and it's not saying the item doesn't exist (which I have confirmed happens if you use an invalid item)

Results of further experimentation

I tried loading up a world I haven't touched in months that has an add-on with custom blocks/items they were all still there but the blocks had broken textures (and we're only available through commands) and the items had the right textures but could not be obtained through any means (I had some in chests).

I then loaded the pack in a new world and as far as I could test the results were the same

I loaded up the addon provided the original poster and got the same results as with my own addons (except for the broken block textures, so that must be unrelated)

By analyzing an add-on that works in the current version I was able to get almost everything working (still can't get shapless recipes or blocks in creative inventory)

Updated example addon. Items show up in the creative inventory and crafting table. But blocks still do not show up in the creative inventory or crafting table.

I have the same Issue, not with your addon but another addon called Industrial craft, the Items can still be made manually but they don't show, however, I got another add on downloaded, advanced factory and some recipes do show up but not all of them.

This may be an issue with the addons themselves. They may not have been coded correctly.

Fixed in 1.17.3. You need to use the minecraft:creative_category component.
