I was heading lacing my dirt down underground and I notice that I was not being attacked by slimes like usual. I looked around and realized that no hostile mobs are not spawning anywhere near me.

I'm not sure if this is the same issue because I'm on the 1.16.1 update but I stood for a full night cycle at the top of a building in a plains area and not a single, solitary hostile mob spawned and we're on hard level. Tried again today and stood on top of a tree. Nothing. Hostile mobs are spawning like crazy in the new nether, but nothing in the overworld.
This is the only report I've found on this issue and it's not for the released version so I'm gonna make a new bug report.
