In both creative, survival and adventure mode when the inventory or crafting menu/creative menu is opened the navigating cursor begins moving to the top even without touching the controller. It has gotten to the point where I can no longer access my inventory and move items without the cursor bugging.

It is the same on all 4 of my controllers? It has also occurred with my friend. It’s not sliding either, almost as if I am using the D-pad to move the cursor
I’d rather address the issue just in case it is occurring with others, because in my case it’s is extremely frustrating to navigate my inventory.
Also been having this problem as of the 1.16 Nether Update. Can confirm it happens with three different controllers that have no issues when moving around world or movement issues on other games/applications only in menus & inventories in minecraft.
Also getting this issue on two of my controllers it's driving me insane we need a controller deadzone calibration please or hardcode a deadzone for the ps4 controller
I've found a temp workaround to this issue. When the cursor automatically moves to the top only navigate the crafting or inventory screen using the d-pad buttons. If you don't touch the analog stick again the cursor doesn't move to the top again.
It only works if you can eliminate the drift enough though. If any slight drift still exists it still moves to the top. But using the d-pads once settled means it doesn't keep occuring. So it's not a complete workaround
Has there been any progress with this? I thought it was originally my controller, but a new one has the same issue. No other games seem to be experiencing this.
