About 1-2 times a week since the Nether update, my realm's settlement experiences mass despawning events. We have villagers, sheep, horses (tamed, leashed, and wild), cows and golems all disappear. Completely gone. These despawning events happen even when there's no way we've hit any sort of entity cap for the chunk. We've seen it despawn anywhere from 1-30 entities on our realm.
This is super frustrating and demoralizing because it makes us lose huge amounts of progress. We've spent countless hours farming materials to trade and increase rep with villagers, only to have it be completely wiped out with no real obvious cause. Our town is 100% secure with really good lighting. They're just disappearing and we don't understand why.

OcelotOnesie - I appreciate the work you do, however the description of that bug does not match our experience. We have had despawn events without traveling to the nether, which is different from the description of that bug. So while it is slightly similar, I do feel the difference is important to note and this shouldn't be duped as that bug.
Also important to note that the nature of this bug I reported only started happening AFTER the nether update. We have never had mass despawn events of this nature before this and have played in many towns with far more entities than we've seen despawn. I believe this is a new issue. Whether or not it's the same root cause should be determined by the dev team I think.

@@unknown Sometimes the way we link issues as duplicates is based more on the simple summary than the detailed description, and it can evolve over time as our understanding of the issue grows. At some point MCPE-21416 became the parent ticket for all unexplained mob and entity disappearances. If you look through the comments you’ll see that it covers disappearances related to travel over long distances, travel through nether portals, crashes, and normal saving & reloading. It covers disappearances on chunk borders and not on chunk borders. So far there is not strong enough reason to think those scenarios have different causes. We would only confirm a separate ticket for a specific kind of disappearance if it had clear, reliable reproduction steps. Two examples of that do exist: MCPE-51837 and MCPE-16863. That said, the description for MCPE-21416 should be updated to reflect how the bug tracker staff actually interprets it. I’ll try to do that this week.
