Two water sources cannot create an infinite water source onto a waterloggable block

The bug

If you have two water sources next to an air block, they will create an infinite water source between them. However this doesn’t work if they are next to a waterloggable block. This allows you to get air underwater, like before the aquatic update.

How to reproduce:

  1. Build a cross underwater made with non-waterloggable blocks

  2. Replace the block in the middle with a slab

  3. Break the 4 adjacent blocks on each side of the slab
❌ The slab won’t get waterlogged and you have air underwater.

With the present mechanics, water would have to flow into the slab first in order to form a water source, but water cannot flow into slabs or many other waterloggable blocks by design, per MCPE-33483. I don't see how the reported issue is a bug though, since it takes a bit of planning, work, and materials to make an underwater air pocket.

But I don’t think you are supposed to be able to get air pockets like that underwater at all since the aquatic update.

And also since waterlogging already has many bugs on bedrock, this might actually be a bug.

According to MC-130203, in Java Edition slabs do get waterlogged when they have 2 water sources next to them. I am therefore confirming this report, since the apparently intended behavior does not occur in Bedrock Edition.

From related reports, it also looks like slabs are meant to be a special case, and this behavior should not apply to all waterloggable blocks. History: when MC-130203 was resolved "works as intended," it was also removed as a duplicate of MC-128933, and MC-128933 was resolved "fixed." Around the same time MC-129009 was also resolved "works as intended."

i couldnt find any bug page more similar then this, though my issue is slightly different, but is the same bug, in Java you can make infinite water sources like this, but in bedrock it does not work, and while i could not get a vid of it, when the piston pushes the slab, it removes the water, but if a water source would have been made where it not there, it works, but if i build water around a slab, it does not fill the slab.
