Realm is not updating, PS4 user can't join

PS4 Minecraft has updated to 1.19.21, but friend's Bedrock Realm has not updated, is still on 1.19.20

Usually, this is automatic

Realm owner has both PC and Switch apps to access. They tried forcing an update of Realm, but it didn't make any change, Realm still doesn't appear to update.

Notice problem when trying to log into Realm via PS4, got an outdated server message.

Also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Minecraft Bedrock on PS4, but didn't make a difference. Cannot roll back PS4 install to 1.19.20, so do not have access

How did the owner try to "force the update" on the realm?
In general, the owner will need to have updated to the latest version and then connect to the realm to have it update. Alternatively, the owner should be able to "close" and "reopen" the realm to cause it to update.

Notes:

  • Some Windows users have not been able to automatically update (MCPE-161443).

  • Switch users might not have access to the update yet (MCPE-161408).
Neither of these are specific "realms" issues.

Ok, that explains it, they were unable to update on both Switch and PC. Unfortunately, I was forced to update on PS4, so I don't have realms access.

Big bummer, because now I can't stream playing on that server.

Any ETA when these update issues will be fixed?

Is this still an issue for you?
If so, do you know if the realm owner has been able to update to 1.19.21 and then join the realm?

Honestly, I thought your team had closed the issue, the thread was a little confusing

Yes, the issue is resolved, the owner of the realm was finally able to update a few days later, which then updated the realm.

It would be good if users on other platforms were able to walk back recent updates to avoid these issues. I know on Java we can do that, but on consoles we can't, and even on Bedrock PC, there's no simple way if you haven't been playing in a while to load older versions. If users could have access to even just both the newest update as well as the previous one (in this case, 1.19.20 and 1.19.21) this would prevent being locked out of a Realm while waiting for the owner to update. Because of the creative nature of Minecraft, a lot of us put in many days of effort into what we build, getting locked out like that makes it a bit stressful.
