REALMS-2013

Operator privilege not working unless they join realm off of other players.

Operator privileges for realm members does not work unless they join the server off of another player. If they join the realm directly they don't see world settings in the settings menu. If they join the realm off of a member that is currently playing the realm they have access to the world settings under settings in the menu. If the player joins the server normally they lose all operator privileges.

This is happening to me. Operator only works if I join through someone playing on the realm.

If I join the server regularly through the server list I no longer have operator. That means I then can't do things I want to do like change the difficulty.

Using bedrock on windows 10. Operator privileges have not been working for us as well since May. Submitted a bug: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/REALMS-1770. Mojang responded they would look into it but didn't respond back.

Thank you for your post, the workaround works for me, if the person who has operator assigned joins through a friend instead of joining directly, their operator privileges show and can be used. A silly workaround but at least we have something until this gets fixed.

Using this as a work around is great, but I know SilentWhisperer reported something similar to this as a bug when 1.11 came out (I think). Apparently, at that time, anyone could access operator functions if they joined under a friends name instead of joining directly. I don't know what the MCPE bug report listing is or if it's been tweaked but this part still works so we'll see how long this work around actually works.

This seems to still be an issue as of June 2020. My sister and I created a realm - she is the owner and made me an Operator. Originally before we had created it as a realm I had access to the World settings. After being made an Operator again once it was made into a realm, I no longer have access to these settings. I can do gamerule commands, but apparently changing Difficulty this way is considered a cheat...? So I cannot alter it this way.

But, with this issue, the owner can have access to the "operator privileges", or the problem is only with other member?

Because i'm a owner who can't do operator stuff.

Are you unable to access game rules via settings? That's the issue I'm having on my realm on Xbox one. If you are the owner, you can still change the game rules via chat commands (at least with my issue you can) but not via settings. (Ex. Show coords and whatnot)

Not via commands and not via settings. I had to activate cheats to show the coordinates.

This is why I discovered this problem, i had to show coords, and the commands didn't work, and no sign of option in the settings.

Playing on a friends realm that we all pay for and I’ve been made an Op but don’t have any access to settings even when joining through a friend (side note, friends don’t even show up on my Xbox Minecraft menu)

Thank you for your report!
However, this issue has been resolved as Working as Intended.

Only realm's owner should have access to the World Settings menu. Members with operator permissions can still change a few selected settings/gamerules via commands.
