MC-106935 End background music stuttering Duplicate

Comments

This bug is present in the release version of MC 1.12 which came out today. As far as I can tell it behaves just as it has in the past - perhaps occurring even more frequently.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Minecraft. Menu music starts playing.
2. Load a world. Menu music stops and world music (eventually) starts playing.
3. Quit the world, going back to menu. There's a chance here that the world music that was playing will not stop. Problem! (It seems that if the music doesn't stop when the game is paused then it will not stop when the game is quit. Sometimes it does work fine, but a lot of the time it doesn't.)
4. Now you're back at the menu and the menu music will start again, but world music is still playing too! It all sounds convoluted.
5. Load a world again and menu music stops and new world music starts, but the old world music is still going strong. Two tracks are playing on top of each other.

It seems that the old world music will continue to play until the track is over. (Note that this is all background music, not music discs.)

Using F3+T in the new world or just reopening Minecraft solves the problem, but that's a hassle. Please fix this bug. It has been around for years.

Really? It just sounds so weird, more like a CD skipping than something supposed to be there.

Confirmed for 1.10.2 and 16w36a 1.11 snapshot.

Still happening in 1.10 (Windows 10). For me it only happens when I load a new world after quitting another one. The only way to make sure I avoid it is by closing and reopening Minecraft entirely every time I load a world.
