I read that somewhere else too. I have Avast Mac as well and when I went into the application I couldn't find anywhere that allowed me to disable to antivirus so I deleted it all together lol. But now I still can't open Minecraft :'( I'm going to mess with it some more and see what I can do because I desperately need to game haha! Thanks for the update. If you have any advice on how to disable the antivirus software lmk.

Did you ever find a way to resolve this issue? I'm currently experiencing the same problem and I did the same thing you did by clicking the link because my launcher was outdated and deleting my original version. I'm so frustrated 😞
Hi, I'm having the same problem and can't seem to update my native launcher. Please forgive me, but I am a complete noob when it comes to Minecraft, but through instruction, I manage myself through the problems I encounter. However, this has proven to be tricky; so I hope someone could please help. I'm sure it's something simple I'm just not sure what it is haha! Anyway, here is the attached native log. & I also have the .dmg not the .exe version if that matters or means anything? I also tried downloading the file at the address listed on the native log and for some reason it looks like it did nothing. A window titled, "Updating Minecraft" pops up with a loading bar which states, "Downloading runtime" each time I try to open the Minecraft application and after a few minute a window pops up saying Native Launcher needs to update. I've never encountered this problem before and I'm completely dumbfounded as to what is causing the problem.

Thank you so much James!!! Apparently I didn't uninstall avast properly and I went into the shield settings, disabled them all, and opened up MC and HALLELUJAH!!! Your awesome dude!
