Dripstone stalagmites interfere with other mob pathfinding too. Walking enemies like zombies will walk into one and just freeze instead of following me anymore. There’s gotta be an older bug report for it, but it’s good to know it affects flying mobs too!
Also, good to know it affects all kinds of entities, not just mobs

@bdm68 @bdm68 Thank you so much for replying and I do agree! It does look and behave a lot like Z-fighting, but there seems to be some differences, as far as I can tell.
I’ve been thinking, the shapes end up looking like triangles because it seems like there are dark squares all over, intersecting with the surface of the mobs. I notice it most with my dogs.
@bdm68@bdm68@Shukesi I’m glad I am not the only one who has these. What version did you start seeing them in? Could you share a screenshot? Or any other information? I feel bad that I did not report this bug right away!
@apple502j Oh, wow. I had no idea. Are we not supposed to be able to use formatted/colored text inside our books? That stinks, but if there’s a good reason why not I could accept that. Where are we supposed to be able to use them? thx
@BugTracker MC - 1572 describes the ability to paste the symbol into a Book and Quill, but not type it in directly. My report, MC - 297501, describes the inability to paste the symbol into a Book and Quill as well as other aberrant behavior when the cursor blinks over already formatted text and when next to where the symbol is located. I should like to hope that a human will notice the distinction. 😟
You can infer from the screenshots, that previous to 25w18a, I was able to use the feature as intended. I imagine the new bugs reported about signs will be related to this one somehow.

I am certain this is intended behavior. All path blocks turn into dirt when broken or covered. They don’t remember how they were created. Plus, they share parts of their texture with dirt. When you use a shovel on coarse dirt, it is converted to a block of dirt with a path on it.
Just imagine Steve removed the gravel pieces somehow, lol. Can’t have a good path with wayward rocks in it!
I noticed this too. Seems like we should be able to see them if the menu includes the option. I play on a server by myself, so shouldn’t the owner be able to set it to be viewable or not?
