Default render distance of 12. Lowering the render distance all the way down to 5 does not improve the issue to any degree. Changing the graphics from fancy to simple at 5 chunks render distance also does not improve the issue to any degree.

Another video on the same iPad. Fresh install of Minecraft

Here’s a video of 1.21.121 on an iPad Pro M1 running iOS 26.1. Not only are there massive lag spikes, it runs like garbage in general. It’s not smooth whatsoever. I’ve even tried turning render distance to 5 and simple graphics, there’s zero improvement.

1.21.121 did not fix the this issue on mobile

I believe they’re mistaken. Because the texture pack they were using is Faithful 32 and I can confirm that this lagging and freezing issue happens with or without Faithful 32 active

Disregard my last statement about the lower frame rate setting. After closing application, that toggle does nothing and the issue persists as it did before. I do not understand what is going on but it’s beyond infuriating.

New information. I discovered a setting I hadn’t noticed before “Lower frame rate when controller is disconnected”. I disabled it and the issue went away. I reenabled it and the issue did not return. I don’t know if this is a one off thing and it’ll come back but there is an issue with that setting. It should not be causing lag spikes like that if that truly was the cause.

I do not have a single addon or texture pack installed on my device. I experience this issue on 1.21.120 running the latest version of iOS on an iPhone 16 Pro Max, 17 Pro Max, and iPad Pro M1

In regards to the incident you cited MCPE-230385, this is the issue. It was marked resolved when it absolutely is NOT resolved. The POSTER literally said that the issue persists with or without texture packs or addons. They were reporting the same issue as the one we are discussing right now. This has been an issue for MONTHS and MONTHS and it keeps getting swept under the rug and marked “Resolved”. It’s not resolved. That person was experiencing the same issue that we are. It has absolutely nothing to do with texture or resource packs.

I intentionally uninstalled the game and reinstalled with none of my save data, created a new world and immediately began experiencing the issue again

It has nothing to do with texture packs or addons, the issue persists exactly the same with our without texture packs or addons

The issue persists on 1.21.120 and has for the last 5-10 versions or more. I play daily on PS5 and it’s not an issue. I can’t speak for any other platform besides mobile and PS5, but it does happen on every mobile device I’ve played on

The issue is exclusive to mobile. I have played regularly on PS5 for 5 years and never experienced anything like it.

Every 10-20 seconds there will be a massive lag spike or freeze that causes everything to stop. During this split second pause, touch inputs do not work, and nothing in the world moves or interacts. Then the game will continue running as intended until 10-20 seconds passes and the next lag spike or freeze happens. Again, only happens in normal worlds, and does not happen in realms or servers

I appreciate the response. I’m not sure how it can’t be reproduced internally because it’s literally every device and every world. I have had the same issue on an iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and an iPad Pro M1. All running the current public release of iOS, with no external devices connected. Simply load up any creative or survival world on any difficulty and within 15 seconds you will experience the issue. The only thing I have found is that the issue does NOT exist on Realms.

Still happening with zero improvement as of 1.21.120

iOS 26.0.1 on an iPhone 17 Pro Max

This isn’t resolved. And this auto resolve is why the issue persists. There are dozens and dozens of different tickets on this same issue effecting tens out thousands of players and 95% of the tickets are marked “resolved”

Yes it is still an issue. Effects all devices from high to low end android and iOS. Every 10-15 seconds consistently there is a massive lag spike. It it’s literally unplayable

Can confirm the same exact issue on an iPhone 16 Pro Max and 17 Pro Max running the latest version of iOS and Minecraft. Literally cannot play. It’ll cause you to fall off of things, misplace blocks, misclick etc. It’s absolutely horrible. With simple graphics and render distance all the way down, the issue remains and doesn’t even improve slightly.
