I still see this issue in v1.20.62 on an iPad mini 5th gen, iOS 17.2
Steps:
Open minecraft
Click Play
Select a world from the Worlds menu list
After the world loads in, select Save & Quit from the drop down menu, which returns the user back to the menu screen.
Expected behavior:
The screen goes to sleep after the iOS settings-specified amount of time of no user interaction. On my device, the auto-lock time is set to 2 minutes.
Observed behavior:
The screen stays on until the device drains of battery.
(Note:If you just stop at step #3, the screen will sleep, if no further interaction, as expected)
Although this bug, as it’s laid out in the description, is a duplicate of MCPE-178387 (and others), the title, I believe, describes a legit bug that’s separate from any issues with the new button size/positioning.
The bug has to do with new unexpected behavior when in swimming mode (and probably in fly mode as user klent mentioned).
Steps:
Go into any body of water where player sinks down at least 3 blocks or more - to switch controls to “swim” mode.
Press the up arrow button on the right side to swim up.
Continue holding down the “up” button to tread water above water line (see attached video SinkingNotSwimming)
Expected behavior:
Player bobs above water and can breathe.
Observed behavior:
Player starts sinking under water despite finger not having moved away from up button.
In video SinkingNotSwimming, you might be able to see that I’m touching the Up swim arrow. You can see the arrow highlight before it immediately un-highlights and I sink. In fact, I’m actually using 3 digits here. Left thumb on left direction arrows for direction, right thumb to try to stay above water, right index finger to swivel my view and look for my boat. Although you can’t tell, my thumbs never leave position.
Lastly, I attached a video, SortOfSwimmingAboveWater, where I did manage to keep my head above water while moving forward. It was a tricky 3 finger combo move that involved me keeping all fingers pressed down in the direction I wanted to go.
I had times where I was being attacked while trying to swim above water. The 3 finger attack combo meant I could either swim or attack, but not both at the same time.
