This happened to me as well since the patch. It only used the backup (every 30 min). If I logout say minute 29, I lost all 29 minutes of progres.

I think i fixed it by doing the following:

1. Download your world (realm owner)

2. Log into the Singleplayer version of your realm

3. Log out again

4. Upload the Singleplayer world to your Realm
