I've never even seen the attack indicator

You need to attach a crash report. If you are using any resource packs, delete them and try again.

I'm guessing, which is a wild guess since there is no actual post, the this person is on SMP and wen't to the Nether and came out through a synced portal and thinks his stuff is gone. That would be intended behaviour afaik.

delete the resource pack and see if it fixes the problem

what part is a bug? Zombies can break doors on normal or hard. that's intended. Pointing to a 2 year old twitter post doesn't make it less so.

This is a tech support issue, but make sure the lan actually works first.

turn VBO on, and make you you have at least java version 1.7.65. 64bit is preferable. You should probably take this to tech support.

Java was up to date. It seems your error reporting tool only grabs the 32-bit build info. I'm using the 64bit build. So the build info in the error report is worthless.
