Yes but in the versions with new enchantment using lapis, The enchantments text displayed are in plain english not the galactic standard thats being displayed on the screen.
I did actually put the lapis in to see what would happen and it just used the lapis but didnt do the enchantments. All the other enchanntments on armour and weapons and tools other than Fishing rods show the expected 1.8 type behaviour with the enchantments being in english it really is only on the fishing rod that things do not look to be correct.
Yes it was a low level. No book cases and only 4 levels available. So the issue is more that it showed the old type of text. see screenshot I have added

Still present in 15W32a. Fresh world created in this snapshot and suffering the same huge drops in FPS.

ok will do thanks
Additional comment. After an server timed reset overnight it looks like the spawnpoint is now correct (to the new coords) again. Not sure what is going on here. Will try and recreate the issue again and see what happens. Anything else useful I can do or collect if I do recreate the problem?
This is still an issue in 1.8.3 and realms. setworldspawn sems to be only temporary.
To recreate move from original spawn and use /setworldspawn message says its ok with the new coords.
reset the world. I did this by changing to an alternative realms world and then back again.
Logon to the world and verified that spawn had moved with a compass. It had.
Logged out for about 2 hours and then logged back in.
World spawn point is now back at the default position and not the new one.
To get my sons laptop working I switched him from Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 386 to 13.10 beta 64 bit with a clean install. And the latest snapshots now work. So either the the switch to latter versions of the drivers did the trick or the switch from 32 to 64 bit did the trick.

Yes I can also confirm that the 7 minutes is now wont start at all with the 41a snapshot, Sat on the Mojang splash screen all night without starting.
Video card on machine that has the problem is a intel GMA 4500MHD running intel i8xx i9xx driver
Just to mention during the wait period to start the game the CPU is pretty much running flat out doing something and is unresponsive to quit. You have to go into Sysmonitor and kill the java pid to kill it during that time.
On the Lenovo T420 I am running openjdk-jre 1.7.0.25 64 bit
on the Acer i was running the same version but the 32 bit version
I then went and got the latest vanilla Oracle Java 32bit from oracle no change in symptoms
I have two ubuntu machines 1 is running 64bit and works fine with this Snapshot. The other is an older machine ASUS aspire 4810T running 32 Bit. Until the latest 13w38(a) and (c) snapshot was working slowly but OK. The game works fine once you wait for it to start but from clicking the play button on the launcher it takes 6 minutes to get to the game screen. It also takes the same 6 minutes after the quit game button to close the game and get back to the launcher. Not sure if the 64/32 bit difference is relevant or useful but thought i would add it
You are correct my mistake . 1.8 shows the same behaviour. feel free to close as user is Dumb
