MCPE-102598 Mobs spawning on multiple snow layers Confirmed REALMS-5553 Chunks Disappearing Duplicate

I just had this happen on my Realm. I bred two horses and their child had 14 hearts, 3 of which appeared empty/dark. I tried to heal it with apples but I just mounted the horse. If it took damage I could heal it, but only to 11 hearts. When I left the area and came back, the empty hearts were gone and the horse just has 11 hearts, so it seems like the max health is working correctly, it's just showing extra hearts that aren't really there.

Edit: Actually, I'm pretty sure this is decreasing the health of horse offspring, and the missing hearts represent hearts that should be there. I keep breeding two horses, one has 11 hearts and one has 13, And I'm consistently getting horses that have 10-14 hearts, but 3-5 of those hearts are missing. This is making it much more difficult to breed a great horse, which really sucks when a recent update was aimed to make horse breeding more viable.

This is still present in 1.19.60 on Xbox One. Would love to get my snow golem-based snow farm running but it doesn't produce much snow thanks to this.

It wasn't happening very frequently for me so it could still be a problem, but as far as I've seen so far this is resolved. It's worth noting though that the lighting requirements for mob spawns didn't change for sky light in 1.18 (just block light), so this could still be happening for sky light.

This doesn't seem to be fixed. I have a large 2-tall area dug out in the Nether, and large magma cubes still spawn there all the time. Happy to post screencaps if that helps, but I haven't seen any change in this behavior before/after the release of 1.17.30.

I've noticed this in my beacon mine, where I have a torch grid layed out so there are 5 blocks between every torch, and they're all on the ground (I've noticed it in parts of my base that were spawn-proof before as well). Mobs spawn very infrequently, but it still happens. They're not falling from the ceiling or anything, I've watched them spawn, and it looks like they're only spawning in the middle of each square of the grid, so I'm guessing the problem is that they can spawn at light level 8 now. I've only noticed it in the 1.17.3 update.

Fair enough, thanks for the help anyway!

Ah, I hadn't realized glass panes won't block spawns. Will carpets? I know carpets stop spawns for the block they're placed on, but not sure if they stop the spawning of large mobs on the blocks around them. I'm digging out a large area in the nether that's 7 blocks tall, and placed carpet every 3 blocks in a grid, but ghasts were still able to spawn. Is that a bug, or do I just need to place carpet on every block?

GoldenHelmet: I'll try and get some screenshots of ghasts spawning where they shouldn't, but it seems like there are already plenty in this ticket (the attachments from 6/27/2020, of a ghast spawning in a tunnel where it shouldn't have space to spawn).

I spent a lot of time digging out a nether hub that I didn't think would be spawnable, but ghasts are still spawning where they shouldn't on my 1.17 realm. It's worth noting, though, that I think there are two different issues here. One is the spawn rate of Nether mobs, which is way too high. The other is some mobs spawning where there isn't space for them. The latter applies to ghasts, magma cubes, and slimes (at least), so this isn't just in the Nether. I have a large 2-tall area dug out in the Overworld and large slimes will spawn in slime chunks there, even though they're supposed to need 2.5 blocks of height to spawn.

This has happened to me multiple times in my 1.17 Bedrock Realm, through at least 20 blocks, killing seven sheep in my wool farm. No reason to bother replacing them until this is fixed.

Still affects 1.16.40 on Xbox One.

Given that there are a few issues reported with snow layers for this version (such as MCPE-60024 and MCPE-73468), I think it's more likely this was introduced recently as part of those problems.
