oops. Didn't notice. I've since tested it in vanilla minecraft, and It's still an issue. D: I'll update the screenshot.

All I've used here is MCEdit, but in-game, I haven't used any mods. Does this still count as "modded" minecraft? I'd just like to know for future bug reports I make.

But that doesn't mean it works as intended, does it? This should make designs more compact, and use less resources (every piece of redstone counts!), yet it doesn't work. It's a bug, even if it's not a necessity. This needs to be reopened as the fact is redstone shouldn't work like this. Giving an alternate solution is just a way to work around something that needs to be fixed. It's not any reason to mark this as resolved.

If Mojang removes this I will cry.

I can confirm this, but the description is a bit confusing. Do you mean "the command will still show" at the end?

I get why torches placed on redstone blocks don't power off as it's like two torches back to back. However, the daylight sensor powers pistons placed underneath it, so why not blocks/torches?
