Yes the Switch edition is the bedrock codebase and does come on the cartridge, I can confirm this is a widespread issue as me and all of my friends since the 1.14.1 hot fix have been having problems with the game crashing constantly and cross play not working well. The game will crash randomly when you exit and save, as well as if your someone joining someone’s server.
I have the same issue as well since the 1.14.1 hot fix update. When I launch the game it takes about 3 minutes on the black screen alone, and the screen is pure black as the Nintendo Switch logo disappears. Then it takes about another 2 minutes on the Mojang screen, and about another 4 minutes to fully sync and sign in to the Microsoft account, while on pocket edition all of those processes take about 2 minutes tops.
