Can you tell me what the resolution problem is please? The image appears ok for me here - on two computers.

Sorry redstonehelper, I haven't been able to reproduce the problem at all. It didn't happen again in Worly Worldy.
The problem does seem similar to MC 84681, so you could try logging out while you have a block inside you.
It seems the bug is still there in 15w41b.

Light level 0 seems to be reported when standing on cobble stone stairs.
Standing on other blocks appears to report the correct light level.
latest_host.log is from the host computer.
latest.log and launcher_log.txt are from the connected computer.
