No, it doesn't appear to be happening in singleplayer, it might be conflicting with something on the server I'm playing on, I'm not sure.
The following demonstration was preformed on a multiplayer server in creative. Not sure as to why this happens, just wanted to point this out.
You have to be in creative mode, as the issue points out 😛
I found this out while I was building a gravity block cannon to spray blocks randomly across an area, but yeah, have seen this occur at other times as well, just didn't know how to replicate it at the time. Hope this helps 😃
