Confirmed for 14w20b with blazes in lava
Sorry about that, I tried searching using tags like "lava" and "blaze," but I guess I didn't see any reports that looked relevant. I tried sorting by version a few times before submitting this as well, but that didn't help either.

As Gerrard asked, I too would like to see a list of devices that rely on this bug. Personally, I have only found it to be needlessly frustrating when attempting to debug a redstone mechanism. Sure, if this would be fixed/removed, we would lose our brainless BUDs, which I personally have found useless, and to those that would lament the loss of their current BUD designs that rely on this, there are plenty of other BUD designs that don't rely on the bug and are sometimes/generally more compact.
Also, this behavior makes no logical sense whatsoever. Using current redstone mechanics, there is no valid reason why a piston should exhibit this behavior.
tl;dr: What this bug giveth, it taketh away. Many users, myself included, have had to work around this bug just to get things to work properly. I have found little use in it other than the occasional one-time-use BUD and to troll somebody building something with redstone.
Confirmed in 1.6.2 PR with 200 chickens in a 1x1 area.
@Daniel King
It's kind of hard to describe, but at least for me, regardless of the world I go into, even if it's a newly generated one, when I sprint, it's like the game puts a wall in front of me every moment I move.
@David Harmon
Take your debate elsewhere. This isn't the place to discuss how you want the game to be. This bug is not intended behavior.
Tested out the newest version of the bug fix, and it seems to have done something very strange. Try sprinting anywhere in any direction and your movement will be kind of jittery.
Actually, it seems to be a problem with baby animals clipping into walls when they mature. I've experienced it with both mod versions, interestingly enough.
Using the v2 version of the mod, it seems to not entirely fix the issue of mobs clipping into walls upon reload and has an odd tendency to knock the item frames off my walls.
EDIT: Perhaps modify your mod a bit to only apply to living entities?
Animals exhibiting this behavior after maturing and going through/suffocating in walls upon loading chunks confirmed in 1.5.
