Thanks for taking interest in this old Bug.

My Bug is only about minecart and about entities WITHOUT AI.
When it leaves the portal, it must be free to enter another.
There is no need for this timer.
If you implement that, then I just can put my Mobs into minecarts and problem solved.

Here, I have you another way to fix this!
I beg you to reconsider.

Or perhaps bind the timer to a specific portal.

/me is sad about this cargo-railway-build-preventing code hackery being intended.
+ I still don't see a reason for resetting the timer when the entity isn't teleported.

Unless there are players in the nether, it gets unloaded and thus frozen in time.

What about preventing the mob/cart from using the SAME portal during the cooldown period,
but allowing the cart/mob to use any other portal?

(rephrase: Tying cooldown to the last/particular portal the mob/cart arrived from)

That shall be both easy to implement and increase the fun.

I am seeing this in 1.4.6.

thrown items are also exiting at fixed point and fixed direction.
They preserve only the velocity value.
Should a separate ticket be filled about that?

The same happened to me as well.
With the difference that my nether portal worked out to be a dual portal.
One half led back, other half led in mid-air above a lake, at least 15m above...

I though I was insane / the thing was random before I realized what's happening.

(Also I spawned under water in that world when I created it)

It didn't find that bug or any other bug when searching for "joined entities"
It threw out >60% of bugs that didn't say "joined entities" at all, so I assumed that that's it.

Well, you can also place any other block in the vine to quickly overwrite it.
But losing vines by replacing vines by vines doesn't seem right at all

This happens to me on 1.4.2 quite a lot.
I didn't have sheep around, it saw sinking zombies and witches.

I also enclosed some witches in a 2x2 space and one of them kept running away through a corner and teleporting back.
It sounds rather related to this one.
