REALMS-2367 Realms Reverting Each Login Duplicate

Comments

Duplicate issue https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/REALMS-2438

Provided notes and video. This bug allows for duping of duel wield items.

Tested the stuck inventory item by dying and picking the bugged bell back up, and it was still bugged, but now in a new slot.

The only way to remove the item from your inventory is to die and to avoid picking the bell back up and allow it to despawn naturally.

Same notes from a previous ticket:
I have the same issue. I did some testing since I knew I had another bell in a chest.

I had a bell placed in a made up village. I removed the bell and then it glitched. I couldn't replace the bell on any objects and I couldn't move it within my inventory. The glitched bell was part of tool bar as a selectable/usable item, and not part of my stored inventory on my character.

If I put the glitched bell in my hand I couldn't interact with anything (example: opening doors/gates, or opening chests). If another item was in my hand I wouldn't have a problem.

I went to my chest and tried to stack the bell onto the glitched bell. It didn't show that it stacked but it did. I still couldn't interact with the stacked items. I could separate the stacked bells into to different slots in my inventory. The glitched bell would not move from the slot it was currently occupying. The second bell worked fine. I could place it on objects and use it as normal.

The glitched bells remains glitched in it's item slot. I'm unable to place or drop the item. If I spam the bell while trying to place it, the villagers seem to react to it, even though it's not placing, as though it's being rung. At one point I did get it to ring while it was not placing.

If you try to swap a different item, it glitches the other item into it. The number of that item turns yellow, like the bell and then it seems to show you selecting both the bell and the, now, invisible items you placed with it. Even though the invisible item doesn't appear on your cursor, you can still drop it out of your inventory with a drag and drop.

Now I've found that this bell will dupe items that go into your off hand inventory. The bell is not stacked (at least I think it's not). In windows 10, if I long right click the bell and have it select "two" bells, if I select something that goes in the off hand of my character, it will dupe that item into the off hand. I've confirmed that it works with totems, shields, and maps.

You cannot dupe items that will not go in your off hand.

Ok, now this is interesting. I'm moving a village around and moved all the beds away from the center of my created village so they're two distinct villages due to 1.13 changes.

All of the beds were moved and all of the stations were moved as part of these changes, upon logging in, only the beds remained in their moved position and all of the workstations reverted.

The interesting thing is, I placed a wool block down just prior to logging out to ensure that, if I saw it on log in, I would know things were ok. After logging back in this morning, the wool block was there, the beds were still in their place, but the stations had reverted. I'm not sure how Minecraft tracks the different kinds of objects but that seems way off.

Edit: the beds did revert as well upon closer inspection. My inventory was also reverted, but the wool was still placed.

Just experienced another revert. I'm not messing with any maps, just doing general edits around the world, moving blocks and storing and consuming items in game. The last revert was close and almost not noticeable if it wasn't for my inventory updates not saving. It seems that there is a point in time that Minecraft will grab an image, prior to logging out, but something seems to not be happening on Save and Exit.

I've been taking backups of the realm every exit just in case. I just logged in after not having anyone log in over night and things look to have resolved themselves. I removed a single test block before exiting as a point of reference. The block was still removed when I logged back on this morning so I'm not sure if this was a short term server side issue or if this is an actual bug with the client communicating save points with the host.

Either way, I seem to be in ok shape again.
