Ah thank you, as you can probably guess, im still learning bits. Thanks again, that can be a fun thing to play with later

I run a server for a myself and a few friends, and am having this issue. We started our world in 1.12.2 and stuck mostly to the Nether, then with the 1.13 release replaced a new world's Nether with the 1.12.2 one. Our new 1.13 Overworld is completely fresh, and a little less laggy than our developed Nether bases, but that may just be because of all the redstone etc. that our Nether bases have, I'm not sure.

I tried booting up a fresh 1.13 server for us and still experienced lag, though, including that impossible rubberbanding elytra flight, and random chunks just refusing to load.

It's not simply annoying. The lag makes fighting incredibly difficult, Ghasts are blowing up all my builds, etc. I can't play it like this.

I have also experienced these issues - both sitting pets attacking when I am hit, and sitting pets teleporting to me seemingly randomly (without provocation from any hostile mob that I can see).

Most recently (within the last couple days) I was mining under my house and one of my parrots just appeared next to me. I can't remember if it appeared sitting or flying, but not long before it had been sitting upstairs decoratively within my fully-lit and secure kitchen.

Not sure if this is related, but it's also a common occurrence in general for my sitting pets to be slightly shifted when I log off/on or leave the area and come back. In the past I've attributed this to me shoving them without noticing (or one of my friends doing so), but the other day I noticed it happened with one of my parrots who was perched up in a 1-block-high space on a ledge, where nobody I play would have any reason to go. Not only was he shifted, I can't find him at all anymore (which, have to say, is quite upsetting since it took me so long to fetch him from the faraway jungle). Another of the nearby parrots was also supposed to be on a different perch, but was instead sitting on the floor below it.

... Actually, that reminds me of MC-22147. Could these be related? I just went to check with chunk borders visible and in each of these recent instances with the parrots, they would have been on a block next to the chunk border. It's possible they were overlapping the chunk border slightly, but impossible to say for certain now.

Last time I messed around with maps (in 1.11.2) this was still an issue - If what I was experiencing was the same issue or related. Here's how I'm seeing it:

I make a map, zoom it out a few times, and put it in a frame that is located within the mapped area. A green marker appears but the player position marker stops working (or isn't rendering correctly?), even on copies. For me, this hasn't been an issue if the map in question is positioned in a frame outside of the mapped area.

Basically this means that when I make my big "mega map" (many zoomed out maps framed next to each other on the wall) and position it in my base, I can continue to use copies of those maps for exploring, but only really for exploring those areas far from my base (i.e. not included in the map area in which the maps are framed). It also means I can't give my friends copies of these maps to frame at their bases, unless I want the maps to be much less useful for exploring the areas around their bases as well. Ditto for villages, temples, etc...

Maps would be so much more awesome if this weren't an issue. I have a good memory so I can kind of remember where things are anyway, but it would be much handier if I could make use of those little thumbtacks to point to important locations.

... p.s. This would have been an excellent candidate for a fix in the Exploration Update. Too bad! Useful colored map markers for the World of Color update? 😃

So for clarity, an anti-cheat function in the game is first placing me in identical Nether coordinates, before dividing by 8 and then putting me in the final Nether location? And those identical coords contain fire/lava, so if I wanted to fix this I could go over there, remove the fire/lava, and all would be well? That's doable of course but I sure hope a patch is being worked on for that. Bothersome and obviously not what's expected from the player's side.

@KJP12 No, as I said, I do not believe that was the cause in this case. I looked all around each side of the portal (Nether and Overworld) and there was no lava or anything on fire. It was consistent and didn't happen just the once, and I was the only player online, so it wasn't random happenstance like a zombie on fire walking by either.

I've seen it holding sand ok
